Freaked Out and Small and Love Everybody, by multiplatinum Seattle trio The Presidents of the United States of America, are coming to vinyl for the first time ever… exclusively from Bandbox!

Freaked Out and Small (2000) is being pressed on blue splatter wax and Love Everybody (2004) is on pink splatter, both matching the color schemes of the LP cover art. Each title is only available to buy through the end of September, at which point we’ll stop taking orders for these special releases. A limited-edition Presidents of the USA t-shirt inspired by the albums’ artwork can also be purchased exclusively during this pre-order window.

Copies of Freaked Out and Love Everybody are accompanied by the second Presidents issue of Bandbox’s signature deep-dive artist zine, featuring exclusive track-by-track guides to the records by singer/bassist Chris Ballew, guitarist Dave Dederer and drummer Jason Finn and previously-unseen photos from the early 2000s. The first volume came with our exclusive variant of the group’s chart-topping self-titled 1995 debut and first-ever vinyl pressing of the prior year’s Froggystyle demo collection.

“Here you have two albums by a band that didn’t really exist,” writes Dederer in his introduction to volume two of the fanzine, which indeed picks up the Presidents of the USA story at a nebulous point. They initially split in 1998 following 1996’s Gold-certified II, but briefly reunited to lay down Freaked Out and Small for early digital record label MusicBlitz. “This is my favorite Presidents record because it’s so vital and direct. We learned and recorded the songs on the spot and you can feel that energy,” he recalls of the sessions for the third effort.

As Dederer tells it, the surprise hit “Some Postman” necessitated the recording of a follow-up. “Love Everybody was an album we had to make. When we started playing again in 2004 we accidentally recorded a hit song, ‘Some Postman,’ and right quick we needed an album to put the single on…” “Some Postman” reached number 31 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart at the time, and is now, barring selections from their debut (which sported the era-defining smashes “Peaches” and “Lump”), the Presidents’ most-streamed song on Spotify.
